Biographical Information

William was born on the 15th of September 1894, the eldest son of John Henry Jarvis and his wife Emma.
He was baptised at St Mary’s Church on the 11th of October 1894 by A H Crick a curate.
The 1901 census shows the family living at 20, St Sepulchre Street. William aged 6, his sister Alice aged 9 and brother Ernest born in 1901.
Williams father was a grocer working for his “own account”.
William joined the Yorkshire Regiment,Green Howards 5th battalion. He was killed in action on the 23rd of June 1916.
He was interred at La Laiterie Military Cemetery in Belgium. He is also remembered on the family stone in Dean Road Cemetery, ref. C 523.
